Why An Energy Audit?

Schedule a Free Home Energy Audit

Why do you need a home energy audit?

A home energy audit takes a whole-house approach to energy efficiency to identify where the biggest energy efficiency gains can be made. The Energy Audit analyzes how all the elements of your home work together to affect the amount of electricity and fuel you use. The result is a top-to-bottom look at where your home is wasting energy and a report detailing the recommended home energy improvements you should make. An Energy Audit must be performed by a participating Home Performance contractor recognized by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) as a BPI GoldStar Contractor. Energy Savers Inc. is specially trained and experienced in the use of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to provide you with an unparalleled, comprehensive analysis of your home’s energy efficiency.

Why Get An Energy Audit?

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR offers benefits and incentives to help make energy efficiency improvements affordable for New York State homeowners. If you own a single-family home or a two- to four-unit multifamily building, you are eligible to participate in an energy audit.

Upgrading the energy efficiency of your home gives you an opportunity to make a real difference. You can enjoy year-round comfort, energy savings, and the satisfaction of having a positive impact on your community and the world.

How To Qualify For An Energy Audit

Most New Yorkers can receive a comprehensive home energy assessment for free or at a reduced cost. To qualify, you need to meet these four requirements:

  • You must rent or own a residential building with 4 units or less.
  • You must not have previously received a free or reduced-cost comprehensive home energy assessment on the building listed.
  • You must provide a 12- to 24-month summary of the energy usage for your building for the energy audit. If you do not have access to a full year of data, you can provide the data you have, along with proof of the date of purchase for your home, unit, or building

How To Prepare For Your Energy Audit

Before an energy auditor from Energy Savers Inc. comes to your home, compile a list of any already-known existing problems, such as areas of condensation and drafty rooms. Make sure you have copies or summaries of your home’s yearly energy bills on hand. You can request this information from your provider, and it allows our auditors to establish what they should look for during the audit.
